What is it?
- Reflexology is a therapy which can be traced back over 5000 years.
- It works through the relationship of reflexes in different areas of the feet (and hands) to all areas of the body including its’ organs.
- It recognises imbalances in the body and seeks to correct the imbalance through treatment of the feet (or hands).
- Through special massage touch, the therapist aims to restore homeostasis (balance) in the body.
What can it treat?
- Reflexology is a good therapy for treating: stress and stress-related disorders, back pain, headaches, digestive problems, menstrual problems, other aches and pains, breathing problems, fertility and sinus problems.
- Even if you do not suffer from a medical ailment, Reflexology can benefit everyone by bringing calm and relaxation to the body.
How long does it take?
- A treatment session usually lasts for about an hour, although the first session will take longer so that your medical and lifestyle history can be taken.
What can I expect?
- After treatment, the following reactions may occur: feeling relaxed, energised, warm, floating, improved sleep, more dreams, pins and needles, twitching, jerking, headache or nausea, diarrhoea, skin eruptions, extreme thirst, increased discharges, heavier period, increased urine, mild cold symptoms. All of these symptoms should be seen as a positive reaction to treatment and all part of the body’s healing process.
